About the Image Blur Tool

The Image Blur Tool runs entirely in your browser. Drop or select an image, drag the Blur radius slider from 0 to 20 pixels, and click Apply. The tool uses the native Canvas filter blur(Xpx), which applies a Gaussian-like blur to every pixel. 0 px leaves the image unchanged; larger values produce a progressively softer, out-of-focus look. Download the result as a PNG. Nothing is uploaded to a server — all processing happens locally with JavaScript on your device.

How to use the blur tool

  1. Click the drop zone or drop an image file onto it.
  2. Drag the Blur radius slider — higher for a stronger blur.
  3. Click Apply to render the effect onto the image.
  4. Click Download to save the result, Reset to restore the original, or Clear to start over.

Frequently asked questions

What does the blur radius mean? It is the standard deviation of the Gaussian blur kernel in pixels. 0 means no blur; 20 produces a very soft, heavily blurred image.

What is the output format? The download is a PNG file. This preserves detail and avoids compression artifacts.

Does this tool upload my images? No. All processing happens locally in your browser. Your image never leaves your device.

Can I blur faces or license plates? Yes — but for sensitive content a pixelate effect or a heavier mask may be safer than a light blur.
